A system based on big-bale silage and crimped barley is delivering growth rates of 1kg/day at a Cornish contract rearing unit. Eddie Moore from Pinklands Farm, St
Clether, Launceston, over-winters 100 Aberdeen Angus cattle for renowned breeder Peter Chapman from Hele Barton.  The 70-acre farm is down to 50% grass
and 50% barley for crimping with a mix of  winter and spring varieties. All grass is cut for big-bale grass silage with a focus on quality.
